About the Ministry of Labour, Qatar
By virtue of the Amiri Decree No. 57 of 2021, the Ministry of Labour (MOL) was established, stemming from the State’s belief in the pivotal role of the Labour Sector as one of the key vital sectors contributing to the steady development Qatar is experiencing. Owing to such fact, this necessitated the presence of a government authority that should be competent to organise the Labour Affairs and implement Labour-regulating laws and decisions, as well as fully complying with the International Agreements in the field.
The Ministry aims at advancing the Labour Sector by providing a healthy and safe work environment for the national and foreign manpower in the Private Sector, enhancing production efficiency, ensuring that Labour Law is fully enforced and expanding the participation of the National Workforce in the Private Sector. The Ministry of Labour is entrusted with a set of competencies, among which is to devise and implement policies, recruit expatriate labour and supervise fair employability.
The Ministry is also working to achieve a healthy and safe work environment that is governed by law through reducing labour disputes and strikes, protecting the rights of both employers and workers, ensuring the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health procedures and supervising establishments and facilities to set the seal on their compliance with the provisions of the Labour Law.
